Methodology
Every page in this directory anchors to official U.S. government sources. Salary data is drawn from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) survey, May 2025 annual release, which samples approximately 1.1 million establishments and publishes wage percentiles and mean wages for 800+ SOC occupations at national, state, and MSA levels.
Growth and annual openings come from BLS Employment Projections program, 2024–2034. Workplace safety comes from the BLS Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) and the Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII), 2023. H-1B visa wage pages use DOL Office of Foreign Labor Certification LCA Disclosure Data, FY 2025. Skills, knowledge, and task data come from O*NET Online. Cost-of-living adjustments use BEA Regional Price Parities, 2023.
WageDex does not alter, rescale, or extrapolate BLS figures. State-level estimates suppressed by BLS for confidentiality are omitted rather than imputed. Full sampling, collection, and disclosure details are documented on the methodology page.
